Volunteerism
Volunteer Commitments
Fulfillment can be found in service to others. This is a lesson I learned at a very early age from my Grandma Nellie. She raised 12 kids on a farm in Kansas where there wasn't even any electricity or washing machines or modern conveniences. There was only love and unfailing committment.
This page introduces some of the volunteer organizations I have been involved with down through the years.
- The Center for Independent Living supports disabled people in their efforts for independence. For many years I volunteered as a reader for blind students through CIL.
- When I got my First Class FCC License I volunteered and worked in the Engineering Department at Radio Station KPFA in Berkeley.
- The Omega Boys Club in San Francisco works with kids in the Juvenile Justice system with the goal of sponoring them in college. I volunteered with them for 7 years.
- I incorporated a fundraising conduit for Christina Noble in Vietnam named the Christina Noble Fundation of America. We raised funds to support Christina's work with the street kids in Vietnam. I served as it's President for 6 years.
- I have been a Foster Parent and a mentor to kids for many years now.
