Thomas Price played Jack Straws
When he was just a boy.
While Porter Hanks's spinning top
Was his favorite toy.
Georgie liked the see-saw,
And Benjamin the hoop,
While Vernon laughed and loved to make
His kite fly in a loop.
Bobby rode his bicycle
With no hands on the bars,
And Stevie Gill liked to crash
His little metal cars.
Well, Thomas died of battle wounds
In the crisp New England fall,
While Porter's head was blown off
By a British cannon ball.
Georgie passed at Gettysburg
His blood spilled in the grass,
And Benjaman at Flanders
Choked on mustard gas.
Vernon in a burning tank
Died at Normandy,
And little Stevie met his match -
An Iraqui IED.
Bobby Parker bled to death
In a bed of sprouting rice.
They trusted us to guarantee
That the cause is worth the price.
